Biography – Carlos Barreiro<\/strong><\/span><\/h1>\n

L\u00e1zaro Carlos Mart\u00ednez Barreiro,<\/strong> was born in the city of Havana, Cuba, in November of 1967.
\nIn 1990 he graduated in Civil Engineering, a profession he held until 1994.
\nHe began in the art world, as promoter of plastic arts, same year.
\nFounder of Havana Gallery in Chicago<\/strong>, he worked as Art Dealer at Space 12, Boston Gallery.
\nHe founded and was director of the private Gallery Space 52<\/strong> in Obispo Street, Havana, Cuba. Ra\u00fal Hern\u00e1ndez participated actively in its creation. Inaugurated on February 6, 1999 and closed in January 2001.<\/p>\n

Originally the colonial residence that occupied the gallery corresponded to number\u00a0 52.
\nWorking with 30 contemporary Cuban artists: <\/strong>\u00a0Pedro de Ora\u00e1, Ra\u00fal Hern\u00e1ndez, Agust\u00edn Bejerano, Pablo H,
\nRigoberto Mena, Barbararo Reyes (Pango),\u00a0 Jorge Barreiro,\u00a0 Orestes Gaulhiac, Jos\u00e9 Bruz\u00f3n, Alejandro Lazo, Carlos Joao.\u00a0 Perfect Romero (Fidel and Raul Castro, Che Guevara, Camilo Cienfuegos photographer ) Regina Fernandez, Keith Catwell, Manuel Gesty, Pichardo …<\/p>\n

In 2001 he began his career as a painter<\/strong> and in 2006 he began his photographic work<\/strong>
\nSelf-taught, he has personally participated in exhibitions in the cities of Lisbon, Madrid, Paris, Brussels, New York, Boston, New Jersey, Miami, Panama and Havana.<\/p>\n

His work is present in the collections of Villem Van Gogh,<\/strong> director of the Vincent Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam,
\nthe collection of<\/strong>\u00a0 Italian actress Gina Lollobrigida a<\/strong>nd the Italian architect Giorgio Bonini, Alain Delon,<\/strong>
\nAndrea Bocelli and Mirna Lissi family.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Works in Mexico<\/strong> in the collection of Gina Diez Barroso, family Lomelin and the collector Alvaro Laviada.
\nIn Cuba, the collections of Miguel Barnet, Alicia Alonso and his former gallery owner Tony Pi\u00f1era stand out.
\nThe Gallery in its cultural project functions, sponsored a school Julio Pino.of children with learning disorder.<\/p>\n

Carlos Barreiro<\/strong> has done 8 personal samples<\/strong> and participated in 18 collective.<\/strong>
\nProject Cuba I – II – III.\u00a0 Space 12 Gallery, Boston.<\/strong>
\nGallery 52<\/strong>, organized a commemorative exhibition of Agust\u00edn Bejarano, personal samples of Regina Fernandez,
\nCarlos Joao, Perfecto Romero, Alejandro Lazo, Pango, Rigoberto Mena.
\nCollective exhibition with the gallery’s artists.<\/strong>
\nHis works are present in private collections of more than 30 countries of all the continents.<\/strong>
\nHe also performs performances and videoart.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Artist Notes<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n

My work is divided into two essentially stages:<\/strong><\/p>\n

The mundane and the spiritual … that duality that we all have and that inner battle: flesh vs. spirit.<\/p>\n

The mural represents an orgy … represents a primary stage of my life dominated by impulses that only lead man
\nto perdition …<\/p>\n

My work has been representing my spiritual stages … now I am abstract because humbly, as the baby cries,
\nand cries for milk to the mother …<\/p>\n

I came to call God in search of a relationship with the Creator and that Divine response was manifested to me
\nin the form of abstraction … for me, personally, I define God in the abstract.<\/p>\n

It is but a celestial call to the repentance of the men of the evil way and to the reconciliation with God …
\na song to the love, to the life …<\/p>\n

To return to the Creator …. God is Love …<\/p>\n
